Media Alert from Highline Public Schools

The following executives will be experiencing “blended learning” first-hand by using applications students access in and out of math class—preceded by a mini tutorial from students themselves:

  • Ray Conner, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes
  • Brad Tilden, President and CEO of Alaska Airlines
  • Gary Greenbaum, President and CEO of Syntonic

Large screens will display the CEOs’ work as they navigate through their lessons. CEOs, Superintendent of Highline Public Schools Dr. Susan Enfield, and Chinook Principal Karin Jones will be available for brief individual interviews about this technology initiative in Highline.

Background:

Highline Public Schools, in partnership with Highline Schools Foundation, has recently garnered critical support from three leading corporate partners in an effort to provide equity and access through technology to all students.

Boeing has provided Highline Public Schools with a technology grant that allows all 600 students at Chinook Middle School in SeaTac, WA, to have their own laptop for use in and out of school—using online technology to transform and improve the learning process in all subjects.

Syntonic has teamed with Highline Public Schools to provide their On-Ramp Education services, which allow the district to provide approved, secure application access over a high-speed cellular network, and to receive real-time usage reports and analytics to correlate student access with achievement.

Alaska Airlines has partnered with Highline Schools Foundation to fund a grant to help increase the number of female students in computer science classes and spark their interest in technology-related education and careers.
